This year, we passed a gun violence prevention bill that includes tougher penalties for straw purchasers and a ban on binary triggers, a bill that will increase wages for rideshare drivers while keeping companies operating in Minnesota, a ban on hidden ?convenience? fees costing Minnesotans around $3k a year, and new funding, reforms, and delivery models for Emergency Medical (ambulance) Services. This just scratches the surface on what was a historic, nation-leading biennium of progress, but there?s more work to do to continue to build a stronger, brighter state for everyone.
I continue to listen to people in our community about what makes them proud to live in Minnesota, their hopes and dreams for the future, and the barriers they face toward meeting their goals and visions for themselves and their families. We prioritized what Minnesotans value most: strong education opportunities from cradle to career; jobs with wages and benefits that can support a family; more affordable, accessible health care; clean air, water, and soil, along with action to tackle the climate crisis; and welcoming, safe, and inclusive communities.
MLC Leadership
I?m humbled to share that I've earned the 2024 Legislator of the Year Award from the Municipal Legislative Commission. As the chair of the House State and Local Government Committee, I've worked hard with our suburban communities and local units of government to plan for development and redevelopment of land while improving housing density and increasing housing affordability. Summer Happenings
Free Park Day this Saturday
This Saturday, June 8th is Free Park Day with free admission to everyone - no vehicle permits needed!
Minnesota state parks are open year-round, and there's a state park within 30 miles of most Minnesotans. With a free day each season, it's a great opportunity to get out there and explore someplace new - or visit an old favorite at a new time of year! Whether you stay the whole weekend or just spend a few hours outside, you'll make memories that will last a lifetime. Find a state park near you using the DNR?s ParkFinder tool.
 Plymouth Farmers Market
Plymouth Farmers Market gets underway June 26th and will run every Wednesday from 2:30-6:00 p.m.? through October 2nd. Check out a wide variety of vendors selling fresh, locally grown produce, and prepared food. Applications are still being accepted for vendors, musicians, and community tables. Learn more here.
