Oldham Way bridges update

We recently reopened the Wellington Street bridge underneath Oldham Way to all traffic.

Waterloo Street remains closed while work continues and is now expected to open in September.

This once in a generation major refurbishment project has taken longer than we estimated because the bridges were found to be in a very poor state when work started.

The internal metal structures were found to be badly corroded and required more repairs than we anticipated.

We apologise for the delays and understand the frustration of residents and motorists.

Once complete, this investment will provide safe and convenient routes for several decades.
