    Reimagining Rural Health Equity

    In the June Reimagining Public Health issue of Health Affairs, Anne Sosin and Elizabeth Carpenter-Song of Dartmouth College outline principles to inform an approach to achieving rural health equity.

     

    The authors outline five principles to achieve rural health equity:

    1. Defining rurality as a distinct dimension of health equity centered on addressing rural disadvantage.
    2. Centering rural disadvantage in analysis, policy and practice.
    3. Addressing rural disadvantage across the lifespan.
    4. Expanding methods to address rural disadvantage.
    5. Centering rural leadership and assets.
