Belted kingfisher

John,

Turning away from science will hurt people and wildlife.

And yet, that’s what the Environmental Protection Agency is proposing right now with a wave of dangerous rollbacks to and suspensions of vital environmental and public health protections.

At a time when both people and wildlife are under increasing threats, we cannot continue down this path. Will you please chip in to help us fight for sound science that will protect humans and wildlife?

Under the cover of the COVID-19 pandemic, when so many of us are focused on other things, the Environmental Protection Agency has suspended enforcement of key pollution standards and moved to expand and fast-track a proposal that will limit the kind of scientific research that can be used in the federal rulemaking process.

Critical scientific research is needed for smart decision making. If the EPA’s proposals are implemented, the agency could ignore the results of upcoming public health and conservation research, and reduce the use of longstanding, pivotal studies that have served as the foundation of policy for decades.

What might that mean? For one, scientific studies could be ignored — like the one that showed air pollution in cities was leading to premature deaths* — and new pollution regulations would lack the scientific foundation needed to adequately protect people and wildlife.

Will you please chip in to help us fight for sound science that will protect humans and wildlife?

Here’s how your gift will support our vital work to create a future where people and wildlife will thrive:

  • Defending and promoting science-based policies that will help wildlife and the air, land, and waters we share thrive
  • Advancing science-based conservation and education programs in communities across America
  • Helping vulnerable species and their devastated habitats recover from the brink

Please join our fight and donate today to support our Save Science to Save Wildlife Campaign. We need $50,000 by April 30.

Thank you for your continued support in this vital time.

Sincerely,

Matthew Kehres
