Friends and Colleagues,

This week, six For Country Caucus Members will lead a jump over Normandy in a WWII-era C-47, to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion. They spoke about the experience of this jump and previous ones like the one on the 75th Anniversary in this segment on CBS Mornings ([link removed]) .

On this 80th anniversary, it is worth also revisiting the famous Pointe du Hoc speech ([link removed]) , by President Ronald Reagan. With Honor Co-Founder, David Gergen, former Communications Director for President Ronald Reagan, recalled how Peggy Noonan, special assistant and speech writer for the President, wrote the speech in her first few weeks on the job. Of special relevance, are the words during the second half of the speech, starting at minute mark 7:42 ([link removed]) , "You all knew that some things are worth dying for. One’s country is worth dying for and democracy is worth dying for because it is the most deeply honorable form of government ever devised by man."
Founding For Country Caucus Co-Chair, Don Bacon, and current For Country Caucus Co-Chair, Jason Crow in Normandy to honor the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
