[Plastic Pollution Coalition’s expansive global alliance includes hundreds of non-profit organizations and businesses]([link removed])
Dear John,
Plastic Pollution Coalition’s [expansive global alliance]([link removed]) includes hundreds of non-profit organizations and businesses, and more than 150 notable celebrity supporters, artist allies, scientific advisors, and youth ambassadors.
We work with these influential leaders and advocates to advance systemic solutions to plastic pollution through a diverse range of communications, campaigns, joint action initiatives, and innovative collaborations that support [our mission]([link removed]).
In recent months, we have been focusing especially on our business members to create lasting impact for our shared planet by:
- Creating public criteria for membership. We developed a public set of [Business Membership Criteria]([link removed]) to avoid greenwashing and ensure high, consistent standards, transparency, and alignment throughout our coalition.
- Uplifting our members & real solutions. Through our new Coalition Spotlight, a monthly blog with targeted social media posts, we have amplified the work of 42 business and organization members to date. Read the [May edition]([link removed]) here.
- Providing consumers with tangible ways to become plastic-free. For example, our Plastic-Free Holiday Guide featured a list of businesses to help consumers make planet-friendly purchases during the holidays. We increased the Guide’s visibility and reach 10-fold from 2022 to 2023, and partnered with [Impact Karma]([link removed]) to make it easier for consumers to find plastic-free retailers.
- Mobilizing business members to support a strong UN Plastics Treaty. We gathered signatures from our business members and hand-delivered a [statement]([link removed]) to US officials to urge them to take a stronger stance on the UN Plastics Treaty and support businesses who are creating real solutions. We also included a [Reuse Solutions and Technologies Brief]([link removed]), which provides the U.S. State Department with specific examples of technologies and products they should invest in for a healthier future.
Looking ahead, we are implementing a long-term strategy for the program to better serve our members, establish unique value propositions, and deliver program-wide impact for years to come. Stay tuned for exciting new updates, partnerships, projects, and more.
You can join our coalition as an individual, business, or organization member to stay connected to our work and support our global movement. [Join today]([link removed])!
With gratitude,
[Aidan Maguire]
