Access to contraception is on the ballot this November. I can assure you that the MAGA Republicans are determined to exercise power and control over women and their bodies. They want to rob us of our economic freedom and our independence.
We must push back with our votes and our pocketbooks. Any donation you make will help me support pro-choice candidates at the local, state and national levels.
It was incredibly frightening this last session to see Governor Youngkin veto two bills to protect access to contraception. One would have required health insurance plans to cover contraceptive drugs and contraceptive devices without imposing any copayment or coinsurance payment, essentially codifying the federal Affordable Care Act in Virginia statute. The other would have established a right to contraceptive care, and empowered individuals to enforce that right in court, if necessary.
I believe the Governor’s opposition to these bills is part of a larger strategy to reverse all of the progress women have made in the last century. Never has it been so important to elect pro-choice Democrats at every level of government. If you agree, please make a donation and help me protect access to contraception.
Governor Youngkin and other Republican governors are following the Donald Trump playbook. Donald Trump proudly brags that he overturned Roe v. Wade through his Supreme Court nominees. Now he and his MAGA allies have made it clear they won’t stop there – they want to rip away access to reproductive healthcare in all 50 states, and that includes contraception.
Trump attacked contraception access as president, allowing more employers to opt out of birth control coverage and imposing restrictions on Title X family planning clinics that serve low-income patients. If he gets another term, he will do it again, and he recently admitted he is already “looking at” policies to restrict access to contraception. His allies have published plans to attack access to contraception through executive action, including removing insurance coverage for emergency contraception.
Meanwhile, President Biden has taken historic action to protect and expand access to contraception. The Biden Administration stands with the eight in ten voters who support contraception access.
We must support President Biden in this upcoming election. Please do everything you can to help abortion rights candidates in every election and especially for the presidency.
