From all of us at Team Judy, we want to wish everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community a safe and joyous month. As a member of the Equality Caucus in the House, Judy has been dedicated to fighting for equal rights for the LGBTQIA+ community, repealing discriminatory laws, standing up against hate crimes and violence, and ensuring all members of the community can thrive. Over the past two years, the Equality Caucus has helped introduce legislation that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and increases resources for mental health workers to care for LGBTQIA+ youth. In addition, Judy also sponsored legislation last year that will ensure same-sex couples will receive the same tax benefits as their straight counterparts. Although we have come so far, there is still more progress to be made. Over the past few years, there has been a significant increase in hate against members of the LGBTQIA+ community, especially trans youth. As we look toward November, we must work to uplift the lawmakers who not only respect members of the LGBTQIA+ community, but fight for them. This month, take time to amplify the voices of the LGBTQIA+ community that have been fighting for decades for equality.
