The presiding judge in Donald Trump's federal trial, Judge Aileen Cannon, has indefinitely postponed the start date of Trump's trial — potentially pushing it to protect him ahead of the election. Judge Cannon was appointed by Trump administration, and her connection to him and her evident bias are undoubtedly a conflict of interest.

What concerning connections does Judge Cannon have to Donald Trump?

Last year, Cannon ordered a "special master" to review the classified documents found by federal officers who raided Mar-a-Lago.

Then, she blocked authorities from using the documents in their investigation while the review was underway, slowing the proceeding of justice.

Most recently, she postponed his May 20 trial start date — indefinitely. Postponing the trial to a potential post-election date could mean the case will never be heard if Trump wins again in November. Cannon is effectively handing Trump yet another win.

This is not just about Judge Cannon’s clear bias toward Trump. We’re also worried that she lacks the experience necessary to preside over a case of this magnitude. Judge Cannon has only spent three short years on the bench, and has no experience prior to her appointment.

Federal law requires a judge to step away from a case in which their ability to be impartial "might reasonably be questioned." Judge Cannon's history and previous rulings in Trump's favor make her ability to be impartial highly questionable.
