Hi John, I’m proud that Delaware has been a leader in the fight for equality.
Happy Pride, John! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
In my lifetime, LGBTQ+ rights have made an extraordinary amount of progress – and it’s all due to the decades of relentless work by advocates and community leaders who have always stood up for what’s right, even when it was unpopular.
I’m proud to say that Delaware has been a leader in this years-long fight for equality: we were one of the first states to legally support adoptions by same-sex couples, ban the medically baseless practice of conversion therapy, and legalize marriage equality.
But the fight for equality isn’t over – folks in the LGBTQ+ community still face higher rates of mental illness, homelessness, and discrimination. There’s also work to be done eliminating the wealth and wage gap.
As Governor, I will always work to empower LGBTQ+ Delawareans – because when I talk about making our state the best place to raise a family, I mean ALL families.
This June, let us reflect on our rich LGBTQ+ history, celebrate the progress we’ve made, and look toward a brighter future. For a full list of Pride events in the First State, you can visit DelawarePride.org!
