In lieu of writing my own post today, I’d like to direct you to this ProPublica article [ [link removed] ] about how the city of Albuquerque is violating their own policy against throwing out the belongings of unhoused people. This is not just Grants Pass. It’s not just Albuquerque. We regularly have clients across the country for whom we have to get multiple IDs because the police have thrown away all of their documents, often even burning or dumping water on them to be sure they’ve been destroyed.
This SCOTUS decision is not just about a small town in Oregon. This decision is about all of us.
Also, ProPublica is an incredible institution that does incredible investigative work. This week, instead of posting our donation week, I’m posting theirs. Please give them a few dollars!
Sending good vibes to SCOTUS,
Kat
