The Nomination Period for the Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor is Open [ [link removed] ]
The Bureau of Justice Assistance administers the Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor, the highest national award for valor by a public safety officer. The medal is awarded by the President to public safety officers who have exhibited exceptional courage, regardless of personal safety, in the attempt to save or protect human life.Â
Public safety officers (firefighters, law enforcement officers, and emergency services officers) who serve with or without compensation at the federal, state, local, and tribal levels, may be nominated for the Medal of Valor.Â
This year’s nomination period covers events that took place between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024.Â
Learn about past award recipients [ [link removed] ], and if you know of similarly deserving public safety officers, submit your nominations for the Medal of Valor by July 31, 2024, by 5:00 p.m. ET.Â
