IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE PARTY

During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Republican Party of New Mexico encourages everyone to take precautions, practice safe health measures and do what’s required to protect oneself and families. The Party stresses that the health and safety of all New Mexicans are paramount. Therefore, the Party is currently conducting operations and communications remotely. The Party continues its mission and engagement, but will utilize virtual/remote practices for outreach, projects, campaign events and other initiatives.

REPUBLICANS CALL ON GOVERNOR TO REOPEN BUSINESSES AND HELP THE "LITTLE GUY."

The Republican Party of New Mexico, legislative leaders and business owners want Gov. Lujan Grisham to "get down to business." The governor has made it clear that she favors national out-of-state chains and national special interests over New Mexico's small business community. Our governor has to help the mom and pop establishments, the main street businesse that are the economic heartbeat of our state. While we all want New Mexicans to be safe and healthy, there's no reason why social distancing cannot be practiced at small businesses. Lujan Grisham fails to understand that businesses and peoples' livelihoods are at stake here. We must come up with a responsible plan to get our state back in gear.

Here's an AP story ([link removed]) following RPNM's news conference yesterday, where we called on the governor to reopen businesses and use common sense in doing so.

BATTLE OF THE BALLOTS TO BE HEARD IN NEW MEXICO SUPREME COURT TODAY

Today the New Mexico Supreme Court is set to hear oral arguments and is expected to decide on whether to allow the state to hold a vote-by-mail (VBM) ballot Primary Election. The Republican Party, 10 Senators, 21 State Representatives and 4 county clerks filed a joint lawsuit opposing those mail-in ballots because there are no protections against fraud. We support mail-in absentee ballots which have protections: people must apply for them, and they can be tracked. If the High Court approves the VBMs, it could possibly set a precedent, and cause even more problems in future elections. The Party and joint filers stress the need for health and safety during this pandemic, but are also calling for fair and violation-free elections.

CHURCH SUES GOVERNOR OVER DECISION REGARDING MASS GATHERINGS AT EASTER

Legacy Church in Albuquerque is going from the pews to the court bench. This week it filed a federal lawsuit against the state after Gov. Lujan Grisham issued an Easter-eve order to stop mass gatherings at houses of worship. Now it looks like Lujan Grisham is going after our freedom of religion, as she continues to arbitrarily order bans across the state. Churches had been exempt from these bans. The U.S. Government is now watching such regulation of religious services.

"While health and safety is most important during this unprecedented time, and social distancing is a part of that, religious organizations must not be targeted. Religious freedom is vital to our society, and the governor is going beyond her boundaries here," said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce.

HELP SAVE NEW MEXICO'S SMALL BUSINESSES
The Coronavirus pandemic is hitting our small businesses hard, but the Trump Administration is now offering help.

The Administration is providing $500 billion in businesses loans.

Please CLICK HERE ([link removed]) to get all the information and procedures for small business loans, and please share them with businesses in your communities. Details on loan forgiveness and interest are explained. Small businesses are the cornerstone of many communities, and it's vital that New Mexico businesses get these loans as soon as possible.

Of course the health and safety of all New Mexicans come first, but it's critical that local businesses get the support and financial assistance available to them.

Let's save our New Mexico businesses and keep our state strong.
