** 1. Climate change? Maybe. Ban fossil fuels? No. ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
By Guy Ciarrocchi
In a two-part essay this week, Guy addressed some tough questions to that segment of the far-left that wants to ban oil and gas outright. Is there truly a climate “crisis,” unlike any other weather or climate cycle in the history of the planet? Is this historic, unprecedented climate change — that we must assume is horribly bad — caused solely or primarily because of the actions of people, e.g., fossil fuels, eating meat, farming, using air conditioners, and even having kids? And if so, is this the only course available to us?
Why It Matters. We have to ask because if we are going to stop using fossil fuels (and, eating meat, etc.), we should make sure that “green energy” can replace it and that it can keep up with a growing American (and world) population and the growing needs for energy. Shouldn’t we take a moment and make sure that “green energy” is actually cleaner, healthier, and better for us?
If we are going to wake up in 2034, 2044, or 2050 in an America with no gas-powered cars, no gas ranges and no natural gas-powered or coal-fired electricity plants (how 60 percent of our electricity is made), can enough solar panels be built and installed to power us safely, reliably? Have we considered how much material and land that requires, to convert even 50 percent of our energy to solar?

** 2. Antisemitism is an issue beyond college campuses ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
By Beth Ann Rosica
While college campuses have been infiltrated by antisemitic speech and actions, local public schools are also experiencing increased incidents of Jewish hate.
This Instagram ([link removed]) post describes one such alleged incident where a Philadelphia School District middle school teacher crossed out the word “Israel” and changed it to “Palestine” for a geography class assignment.
Why It Matters. The political divide on the war should not be an excuse for tolerating antisemitism in any form in our public and private schools or universities. As Robin Schatz, the Director of Government Affairs for the Jewish Community Relations Council at the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, said, “Jews hold many different viewpoints, and they just get lumped together. Even Jews in Israel have varied opinions.”
The Philadelphia School District and other schools in the region and country should take a stronger stand on harassment and discrimination of Jewish students and teachers. Elected officials and school administrators have a moral and a legal obligation to ensure that schools are safe for all children and teachers. Safety in the classroom should not be a political or election issue.

** 5. What we're reading
------------------------------------------------------------
Well, it’s been a busy news week. There are thousands of articles being written about Donald Trump’s conviction in a New York court last Thursday, but if we had to pick one, it would be Jim Geraghty’s analysis for National Review ([link removed]) . “The six-week trial likely cost New York City $1 million to $2 million, with roughly $50,000 per day in additional security costs. The Manhattan DA’s office does not spend seven-figure sums to chase down false business records from 2016 unless the defendant’s name is Donald Trump.” It’s hard to argue with that.
