The House has passed their terrible Arctic bill. Help stop it in
the Senate!

Dear NRDC Action Fund
Activist –

The House has passed a terrible bill to
open up hundreds of millions of acres of lands and waters to
indiscriminate oil drilling — including the 13 million acres that
were just granted maximum protection by the Biden administration.

This is not the news we wanted to hear,
but there’s still time to fight back.

This anti-environment, anti-wildlife
legislation — or other attacks like it — could be voted on in the
Senate at any time. Can we count on you to help turn back these
assaults?

Send an urgent message to your House
representative expressing your outrage at the passage of this
dangerous oil drilling bill — and tell your senators to oppose
this legislation and any other attacks on America’s Arctic. ( [link removed] )

The fossil fuel industry, including oil giant ConocoPhillips,
wants to claim America’s Arctic as its own, opening this pristine
landscape, its Indigenous communities, and its wildlife and
ecosystems to indiscriminate, dirty, and dangerous oil drilling,
while exacerbating the climate crisis.

This bill puts fossil fuel profits over our planet and its
people. We must do everything in our power to stop it.

Act now to tell Congress to stand strong
against oil industry pressure and oppose any attempts to expand
drilling in the Arctic. ( [link removed] )

Sincerely,

Katie Hobbs

P.S. Read more about this disastrous
legislation in my original email to you below.

Tell Congress: Don't sacrifice America's Arctic to
indiscriminate dirty and dangerous oil drilling!

The House of Representatives is considering a disastrous new
bill, H.R. 6285, that would subject hundreds of millions of acres
of the Arctic to indiscriminate oil drilling. We can't afford to
let Big Oil and their allies roll back our hard-won progress.

Dear NRDC Action Fund
Activist,

The fossil fuel industry, including oil giant
ConocoPhillips, and their MAGA allies in Congress are
relentlessly trying to exploit the Arctic — risking irreparable
devastation in a region that is experiencing climate change four
times faster than the rest of the planet.

The House of Representatives is poised to vote this week on
a destructive bill that would reverse protections for hundreds of
millions of acres in the Arctic, on land and sea.

We can't let this bill pass.

Urge your representative to vote NO on H.R. 6285 and reject
any other attempts to drill in the Arctic. ( [link removed] )

If passed, this dangerous bill would:

* Mandate the reissue of seven illegal Trump administration oil
leases
* Roll back the protections granted to 13 million acres in
Alaska's pristine Arctic Reserve by the Biden administration just
weeks ago
* Eliminate existing protections for 125 million acres in the
Chukchi and Beaufort Seas
* Remove protections for the Bering Sea Climate Resilience Area,
an ecosystem that supports one the largest seasonal marine mammal
migrations in the world
* Reverse several critical actions taken by the Biden
administration to protect the coastal plain of the Arctic
National Wildlife Refuge

Prioritizing communities and protecting imperiled wildlife
over drilling in the Arctic is imperative to reducing
climate-busting carbon pollution to the levels we need to avert
climate catastrophe. This bill puts fossil fuel profits above
everything else — and we can't afford to let it pass. ( [link removed] )

We're closer than ever to the clean energy future we need
to stave off the worst impacts of the climate crisis. President
Biden's 2022 climate law, the Inflation Reduction Act, has made
unprecedented investments in our clean energy economy, and the
administration recently issued groundbreaking standards to slash
pollution from the two biggest sources, transportation and power
plants.

We must do everything we can to capitalize on this momentum
— not let dangerous legislation from Big Oil extremists in
Congress drag us backwards.

We have to stop this bill in its
tracks. Please, will you send your letter to your representative
today? ( [link removed] )

Thank you for fighting for the Arctic, its communities and
wildlife, and our climate future.

Sincerely,

Katie Hobbs
