It’s looking more and more like the road to the speakership is through Long Island and NY-1. The bottom line: Democrats can’t afford to lose this fight.

Democrats across Suffolk County are coming together. From Congressman Tom Suozzi to former state senator Jim Gaughran to former Congressional candidate Bridget Fleming, I’m humbled by crucial endorsements from those who know the district best – even former candidates for this seat themselves. That speaks to just how solid our momentum is. We all know we have to unite and give Democrats the best possible chance to win this seat.

It’s time to take the fight to Trump’s MAGA minions. That means holding them to account for their repeated assaults on women’s reproductive freedoms – like a national abortion ban. It means reminding voters that Trump’s congressional flunkies torpedoed a bipartisan immigration bill that conservatives wanted. And it means presenting common sense solutions to actually help Suffolk County families and strengthen the middle class – like bringing back the Child Tax Credit and state and local tax deductions.

That’s how you build a winning coalition. This is the time to take Trump flunky Nick LaLota head on. To do that, it’s going to take all of us.
