Friend,

I want to share with you a recent development regarding the delivery of healthcare to our military veterans.

The bipartisan Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act that I voted for --and the President signed into law in 2022-- recently hit a major milestone. According to the White House, more than 1 million PACT Act-related claims have now been granted nationwide and in Pennsylvania alone more than 46,000 PACT Act benefit claims have been received since the President signed it into law.  Overall, more than 888,000 veterans and survivors across all 50 states and U.S. territories are receiving new service-connected disability benefits.

The PACT Act represents the most substantial expansion of healthcare benefits and services for veterans exposed to toxic substances in over three decades. By removing the burdensome requirement for veterans and their survivors to prove that their service caused their illness, the PACT Act has fundamentally transformed the landscape of veteran care.

This is largest expansion of Veterans’ health care in the history of the Department of Veterans Affairs and is great news for our veterans and their families. These lifesaving benefits include screenings for toxic exposures, eliminating delays in receiving benefits, accelerating healthcare eligibility for veterans, and ensuring that both veterans and their survivors receive the support they need.

I voted for the PACT Act because I firmly believe that our nation has a sacred obligation to care for our troops upon their return from service. I will continue to hold up my commitment by supporting actions and legislative measures that properly support our nations veterans.
