Crime gets worse; Dallas City Council members do nothing.

DPD needs to move from 3,000 to 4,000 police officers ASAP.

Parks and streets are for public use, not private living.

Dallas Vagrancy is Dooming Small Businesses

Vagrancy is not a victimless crime. Businesses all over Dallas are
suffering under Dallas’s blight of homelessness that continues to be
ignored by the City Council. One example of vagrants disrupting everyday
business is the “Original Market Diner” on Harry Hines. KDS sat down
with the restaurant owner, who told us about the ever-present homeless
encampment that poses significant safety risks to the restaurant's
employees and customers.

Countless stories of vagrants accosting customers, breaking into the
building, digging through the dumpster, being a regular nuisance, and
disrupting civil order were told.

Police response times have become so abysmal that the owner usually has
to wait an hour and a half before an officer shows up to help stop the
problem. Watch our coverage of the area

This sort of situation unfolds all over Dallas every day. Dallas Police
Department remains drastically understaffed; they cannot chase these
calls down promptly, many Dallas residents are left out to dry!

DPD must move from 3,000 to 4,000 officers to restore order in Dallas as
soon as possible.

Vagrants disrupting businesses no longer needs to be the status quo.
Contact your City Council Members and tell them you are fed up with the
crime crisis. Call on them to increase funding for DPD to alleviate
their staffing shortage and create a safer Dallas for all!

16 Year Old Gunned Down in Front of Mother

A minor car accident turned into a death sentence for this Dallas teen.
It is not right for Dallas residents to fear leaving the house. Dallas’s
culture of crime will only continue to produce more tragic stories like
this. City Council must be willing to address this issue as soon as
possible!

Dallas Neighborhood Now Safer After Increase in Policing

DPD’s violent crime plan has reduced crime in the City’s most dangerous
spots. Years after the plan went into effect, intentional saturation of
police in certain spots significantly reduced the number of crimes that
took place there. The process is straightforward: the more significant
the police presence, the less likely there will be an outbreak of crime.
City Council must give DPD all necessary resources to be fully staffed.

A Baby and Woman With Fatal Gunshot Wound Found in Old East
Dallas

High crime is anti-family. This story highlights a baby and a woman with
a gunshot wound found in Old East Dallas. These tragic stories continue
to become the status quo in Dallas. We must choose a better path for
this city!

Tracking Illegal Camps:

[link removed]
Executive Director Joseph Porter broadcasts on Facebook Live each week,
documenting vagrant camps in the city and bringing you real-time updates
on the state of homelessness and the apathetic response from Dallas city
officials. This week, Joseph went live in City Council District 11 to
show a vagrant camp get cleaned up in real-time!

 District 7 Councilman Adam Bazaldua

"Mattress Feast Camp"

This camp in Adam Bazaldua’s District 7 has been dubbed “Mattress Feast
Camp.” These vagrants have overtaken this plot of land and left a
seemingly abandoned mattress in the middle of their camp. A large pile
of food and garbage is on top of the mattress. Is it compassionate for
Dallas to allow these people to live like this? Dallas MUST choose a
better path than allowing this to take place.

 District 11 Councilwoman Jaynie Schultz

"Laundry Camp"

This camp in Jaynie Schultz’s District 11 has earned the title “Laundry
Camp.” The vagrant living in this underpass uses the chain link fence to
air dry their laundry for the whole world to watch. People should not be
living like this in Dallas! The City Council must do what it takes to
get these people off the streets.

 District 2 Councilman Jesse Moreno

"Oak Lawn Camp"

We named this camp in Jesse Moreno’s District 2 “Oak Lawn Camp.” This
area has a chronic vagrancy problem that shows no signs of stopping.
Many visitors to Dallas are greeted with this spot as a first impression
of the City. Why does the City Council tolerate this issue persisting?
Being harassed by criminals and seeing a tent city is not the way to
encourage growth in Dallas. People are avoiding the City based on these
apparent deterrents.

Statement:

Keep Dallas Safe exists to address crime and homelessness in Dallas with
the goal of transforming Dallas into the safest large city in Texas for
residents and businesses. We aim to have a City Council that prioritizes
crime rate which directly determines the quality of life in Dallas. We
do this by fighting against the "defund the police" movement, holding
accountable our city leaders' efforts towards lowering district crime
rates, and highlighting our city's homelessness problems by pushing for
enforcement of the prohibition of urban camping.
