Texas Republicans just proposed a new platform that would consider any person who gets an abortion a murderer eligible for the death penalty. This is outrageous.   Dear John, Texas Republicans just proposed a new platform that would consider any person who gets an abortion a murderer eligible for the death penalty. This is outrageous. Their proposed platform calls abortion “homicide” and declares personhood for the fetus from the moment of fertilization. This wouldn’t just outlaw abortion, it would prevent the use of IVF, and could even impact contraception! This is what we were worried about when Roe v. Wade was overturned. If we are going to fight off these state-level restrictions, we need federal abortion protections – and we need them now. That’s why I have introduced the Women’s Health Protection Act in every Congress since 2013. Unless we have federal protections on abortion care, anti-choice advocates and lawmakers will continue to propose legislation as horrifying as this new policy. The only way we can protect abortion rights at the federal level is if we elect a Democratic majority in the House, maintain our hold on the Senate, and keep Joe Biden in the White House. Can you donate $20.24 today to help us elect a pro-choice majority in the House? DONATE The GOP won’t stop at abortion. While they claim to be “pro-life”, we know this is just another way that anti-choice activists want to control women’s bodies. The bottom line is women do not deserve to be punished for seeking life-saving healthcare such as an abortion. We need to stop these extremists before they harm women even more than they already have. In order to protect women’s bodies from Republican control, we need to flip the House blue. Can you chip in today to help us win back our majority so the party of reproductive rights can set the agenda in Washington?
