Hi John – John here.
I wanted to check in since it’s been a busy month here at Team Walsh. When we last spoke, we hit our massive fundraising goal for the first filing deadline of 2024. Since then, I’ve been out in the community, talking to (a lot) more voters about my vision to make Denver a vibrant, safe and just city.
Keep reading to learn more about what I’ve been up to on the campaign trail, but before you do, will you please chip in $10, $20, or $30 right now to help me with my primary on June 25th? [[link removed]]
On Friday of Memorial Day Weekend, I rode with the Denver Bicycle Lobby on a rush-hour tour through central Denver. They are working hard to ensure that we are doing more to keep our streets safe. We talked about the safety challenges that still remain for bicyclists and pedestrians across the city.

This weekend I attended a wonderful event focused on mental health issues for Pastor Thomas Mayes’ organization ‘Training Tomorrow’s Leaders Today.’ It was an inspiring evening, with great leaders from both Denver and Aurora, a moving speech from author Sheila Holloway, and a remarkable keynote address by Lynne Madison Jackson, the great great-granddaughter of Dred Scott, who fought in the courts for his freedom from slavery. It was a privilege to be present.

Last week, we had an wonderful meet-and-greet downtown, where it was an honor to have my mom co-host an event with former Senator Polly Baca! It was a great turnout, and I was grateful for all of our supporters who showed up.

I also attended the Law School Yes We Can Gala where we heard from the wonderful Dr. Kimberle Butler-Jackson and heard an inspiring keynote speech from City Attorney Kerry Tipper. Founded by Federal Judge Christine Arguello, Law School Yes We Can mentors first-generation college students to help them achieve their dream of becoming the first lawyers in their families.

One of the highlights of May was joining Team Walsh at the Colfax Marathon by volunteering at our water station with the Montbello Warriors Track and Field team. This event was such a wonderful reminder of why we all love Denver so much, and why we work so hard to make it a vibrant city.

I also had the privilege of attending the 47th Colorado Women’s Bar Association annual convention with my wife Lisa. CWBA is one of the biggest and most influential women’s bar associations in the country and does important work here in Colorado to advance the work of women in the legal profession. I look forward to working with the CWBA to ensure the Denver DA’s office recruits lawyers who reflect our diverse community.

It’s been fun attending so many events on our neighborhood tour. I had a great time in Hilltop, Wash Park, Downtown, and Five Points talking about our campaign, meeting voters, and hearing their thoughts and concerns. Denverites bring an innovative, thoughtful energy to solving our most pressing challenges, one of the many things that makes our city stand out.

And these are just some of the events over this past week, very busy! It’s been a true privilege to meet with so many voters and leaders in our community to talk about the issues that matter most to Denverites. Since day one, this campaign has been about your safety and improving our community’s criminal justice system so that it is fair and works for everyone.
However, I’ll need your help to make that happen. Can you chip in $10, $25, or even $50 to my campaign so we can build a safer, more welcoming Denver community? [[link removed]]
Many thanks to you all for supporting the campaign,
– John Walsh
