John— A district court judge just stepped in to protect abortion care in Alabama — for now.1
But anti-choice extremists aren’t backing down. State by state, we’re facing a coordinated attack on access to abortion care: In Mississippi, the governor is trying to shutter the state’s only abortion clinic.2 And in Texas, providers have had to resort to petitioning the U.S. Supreme Court to protect access.3 We refuse to sit by and watch as our freedoms are rolled back and our access to care is denied.
NARAL Pro-Choice America is ready to fight — but with so many states trying to ban abortion during this pandemic, we need your support, John. Step up with an emergency gift to defend reproductive freedom for every body, everywhere.
MAKE AN URGENT GIFT
John—
Officials in a least 11 states — including Alabama, Alaska, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Ohio, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia — are trying to ban abortion by using the COVID-19 pandemic as a smokescreen.
If the last few weeks have shown us anything, it's that anti-choice politicians will stop at nothing to ban abortion and exploit this crisis to achieve their ultimate goal: controlling our bodies and restricting our freedoms.
With this dangerous wave of attacks on abortion during the COVID-19 pandemic, we need to fight like hell against these attempts to use disinformation to ban abortion. But we need your support NOW to do it. If you can, chip in $15 to protect reproductive freedom for every body, everywhere.
Judges in Oklahoma and Ohio have stepped in to block orders from those states — for now.4 But we can’t rely on the courts to protect our rights — not when the Trump administration and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have stacked the judiciary with two anti-choice Supreme Court justices and dozens of anti-choice federal appellate and district court judges at a breakneck speed.5
You can bet that anti-choice politicians across the country won’t stop pushing for these bans. It's not just about one state, or one elected official: This is a national crisis for reproductive freedom.
77% of Americans support the legal right to abortion. The idea of using a public health crisis for political gain or to push an extreme ideological agenda is reckless and repugnant.
We need to act fast to stop these attempts to exploit the COVID-19 pandemic to ban abortion.
Every single person who believes in the right to make personal decisions about pregnancy free from political interference needs to step up now. I'm counting on you, John. Please, make your emergency gift of $15 to NARAL Pro-Choice America to help stop the bans »
I'm glad to know you’re a part of the community of more than 2.5 million members who are with us in this moment. We are truly all in this together — and now, we need you like never before.
Sincerely,
Ilyse Hogue President, NARAL Pro-Choice America
With the support of people like you, we can make sure that freedom is for every body.
