Haiti's Mango Emergency
Dear friend,
Farmers in the community of Gros Morne, Haiti rely on mangoes for income and the mangoes are ripening now. In the past, the U.S. bought most of the mangoes, but the USDA has cancelled Haiti's export contract (more detail on this HERE ([link removed])). In the short-term, the loss of income from mangoes is devastating. In the long-term, the loss would be catastrophic.
The community of Gros Morne has a plan, but they need our help. We are trying to raise $35,000 to cover the harvesting, packing, transporting and distributing of 168,000 mangoes to areas in Haiti that do not produce the fruit. The community will distribute them to school lunch programs for needy children.
A donation of $50 will pay for 238 mangoes.
Can we count on your support?
Sincerely,
Quixote Center
