Notice of adopted rules for Paid Family and Medical Leave

On May 24, 2024, the department filed a CR-103 creating a new chapter of Paid Family and Medical Leave rules to implement Substitute House Bill 1570, which was passed into law during the 2023 legislative session. The adopted rules implement a pilot program for transportation network company drivers. Under the law, drivers may elect Paid Leave coverage with premiums being paid by the driver and reimbursed by their transportation network company. The pilot begins July 1, 2024, and ends December 31, 2028.

The rules will be effective July 1, 2024. The adopted rules and supporting documentation can be found on the program’s rulemaking page.

Appeal procedures are found in RCW 34.05.330. This communication constitutes the post-adoption notice required by RCW 34.05.362. For more information, contact us at [email protected].
