I hope you had an incredible Memorial Day and are returning to work this week well rested and ready for summer.

Yesterday, I took a moment away from relaxing with my family to reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedom and democracy that we hold dear.

As I sat reflecting, I was reminded of my beloved Grandfather, Worthy Bright, an Army Veteran who fought for his nation in WWII.

Grandpa Worthy put it all on the line to protect our nation and free the people of Europe from the horrors of fascism. Thanks to my grandpa and millions of his fellow young Americans, many of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice, we were able to defeat Nazism and create a world where Democracy could prosper.

I shudder at the thought of Grandpa Worthy seeing the resurgence of fascism here today. So many of his compatriots left it all on the battlefield putting an end to the scourge of Nazism only for it to rear its ugly head once again in the 21st century.

I have picked up the torch Grandpa left me and am doing my own part in the never-ending war to stop right wing extremism by taking on Congressman Jim Jordan as the Democratic nominee in Ohio’s 4th Congressional District.
