MEMORIAL DAY
Friends and Family: Today, the United States of America celebrates the unofficial start of summer. We remember and honor servicemembers especially those who lost their lives in duty. Today, we ought to further recognize the gang takeover of Port-au-Prince, Haiti as a threat to our national security, that greater attentionality should be given to stabilize the fragile democracy, and a humane agenda takes flight from Washington, District of Columbia and lands on political, social, moral, and economic ground in Haiti. Today, the Democratic Republic of Congo is engaged in one of its longest standing rebel conflicts. The central African nation is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis. The insecurity and disorder are devastating and heart wrenching. Today, the Gaza Strip is in peril. The American Empire has an obligation to promote the well-being of its people and nations abroad. That is the awesome task of our global leadership. Our cooperation and military prowess with our allies generate tangible and intangible benefits, peace and prosperity far beyond borders. It begins with: Peace Movement *Building a grassroots regional and national movement and lobbying effort that is committed to one *Formulating a committee to implement a peace plan at the state and local levels National Measures *Developing a comprehensive plan to identify and cure domestic terrorism *Increasing transparency to the public on the billions of dollars in foreign military assistance Local And State Measures *Conducting anti-terrorism awareness training with civic leaders *Eliminating the usage of military-grade weaponry by local police forces Diplomacy And Intelligence *Expanding our reach and invest in less developed countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America *Addressing the root causes of migration along the northern and southern borders *Successfully advocating the passage of resolutions requesting more information from both the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and executive branch over the extent of nations with nuclear arms program *Increasing intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems of domestic terrorist Military Facilities And Training *Renovating barracks on all military bases *Improving safety and security protocols for servicemembers during Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) *Implementing a weight and strength training program as a component of the physical fitness test for each of the armed forces branches Nongovernmental Organizations *Promoting and increasing humanitarian aid to our regional partners and alliances through nongovernmental (NGOs) and international nongovernmental organizations (INGOs) Education *Constructing and implementing an international educational curriculum that promotes peace, inclusivity, diversity, and tolerance *Instilling school and district-based conflict resolution programs *All school districts officially observe Veterans Day by having no school on the holiday *Students observing Veterans Day as a day of service at local Veterans Administration Hospitals, interviewing family members or friends in military, visiting nursing home or school campus, participating in a parade, creating evidence of a kind deed for a veteran, collecting donations to give to former members of the armed forces, and/or to a project-based learning and literacy exercise *Constructing and implementing a local and state educational curriculum that seeks to eradicate racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, transphobia, classism, ageism, and other forms of discrimination, oppression, and prejudice It is in our interest to engage in diplomacy and active combat. We must continue to seek to greater negotiate, expand the lines of communication, gather and share intelligence, and implement domestic and foreign policy that benefits all people. We must continue to seek to beat the drum of freedom and champion democracy. We must continue our mission to transform futures in a positive way and playing a prominent role on the world stage. Through our current and future allies and coalition building, we can obtain the unfathomable. We can make peace and put back together broken pieces. That is how we can memorialize this day.
