Dear CWA Members and Retirees,
As we observe Memorial Day, let us pause to remember those who died while serving our nation in uniform. Through their service and their sacrifice, they put the needs of our country above their own. Today my prayers go out to those of you in our union family who are grieving the loss of a loved one.
On Memorial Day, we are also called to pray for peace. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded us, there can be no justice without peace, and there can be no peace without justice. Please join me to honor the memory of those service members who are no longer with us by recommitting to the struggle for justice - for ourselves, our co-workers, and all working people.
While this is a holiday for some, I also want to recognize those of you who are on the job today, especially in those states who have been hit hard by severe storms this weekend. The work you are doing to connect people to emergency services, restore communications, get travelers safely to their destinations, and provide essential information is critical and deeply appreciated.
In Unity,

Claude Cummings Jr.
President
