What You Can Do Now

NHCDP Precinct Forum

When: Monday April 13th, Doors at 6:30 p.m., Forum at 7 p.m.

Where: Zoom Video Conference. See details below.

This is an invite to our our weekly Virtual Meeting. This week we are going to hold a Precinct Forum. This meeting is specifically intended for Precinct Officers, members, and people who live in a precinct. . . everybody! Join us in the Zoom where it happens.

This week's Zoom meeting will feature Susanne Werner presenting precinct organization awards and discussion of things we can do right now to improve Democrats' prospects in the Fall, all from the safety of home. We also will introduce our new NCDP Regional Field Organizer for the Seventh Congressional District, Jesse Braughton.

We have upgraded the call experience. Lani Hashimoto is now serving as a co-host, which reduces the awkward pauses. Also we have locked down some aspects of the meeting to enhance security.

There are things you can do right now to help the Board of Elections prepare for this change. First, every Precinct Officer and Precinct Member should apply now for an absentee by mail ballot. We need to apply now to avoid a debacle like the Wisconsin primary in which an estimated 10,000 votes went uncounted because the Board of Elections couldn't process the unexpected deluge of requests. Our elections staff is accepting ballot requests now. To request a ballot, fill out the request form here, then print it out and mail it to our county Board of Elections. (Note, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to fill out the ballot.)

This is also the time in the election cycle that we traditionally register voters. If you need to register to vote, or change your registration to your new address, or to change your affiliation from Republican to Democrat you can now do that online if you have a drivers license or DMV-issued ID.  To register online, click here. Jesse Braughton is running virtual phone banks to encourage new voters to register.

We are holding these Virtual events every Monday. Next Monday we will welcome all three of the Democratic Supreme Court Justices who are running for reelection in 2020 to a Virtual Town Hall. Join us!

Best,

Richard Poole, Chair
