County Council Process: 2024 Comprehensive Plan Update

The 2024 Comprehensive Plan Update is now in the hands of the Snohomish County Council. In March, the Executive transmitted eight ordinances to the Council for consideration, and staff briefings to the Council began in April. Implementing Comprehensive Plan Policies through Code Amendments

With the adoption of the 2024 Comprehensive Plan coming at the end of this year, the next step in the process of planning for the next 20 years of growth in the county, is implementing the policies of the Plan through code amendments. The public can continue to comment on the 2024 Update during the County Council adoption process, and you can also have a large role in the code projects that are shaped by the 2024 Update. Proposed Amendments to the Critical Areas Regulations

While they are two separate projects, the Critical Areas Regulations (CAR) update is related to the 2024 Comprehensive Plan Update because they have parallel due dates and the two must be consistent with one another. The Growth Management Act (GMA) requires Snohomish County to review the CAR of Snohomish County Code (SCC) and update the regulations as needed by the end of 2024. Read more... [ [link removed] ]

Earth Day 2024

PDS staff joined the County’s Office of Energy and Sustainability's Earth Day event at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds. The event provided an opportunity for the public to recycle hard-to-recycle items and learn more about the County’s efforts to increase resiliency to climate change. It also served as the kick-off for the Planning and Development Services’ (PDS’s) annual summer engagement efforts.
