Washington, D.C. - I recently met with North Texas convenience product distributors to discuss the need to repeal the death tax, which I strongly support, and the importance of strong enforcement of our borders and ports of entry to prevent illicit drugs from flowing into our communities.

On Monday, I joined my Ways and Means colleagues in Erie, Pennsylvania for a field hearing over tax policies and their impacts on underserved communities. You can read more about it in my Work of the Week section!

We wrapped up our Ways and Means executive session on Wednesday by voting to make public new evidence that further shows Hunter Biden lied under oath to Congress

After our hearing, I was happy to meet with Texans from Heating, Air-Conditioning Refrigeration Distributors International, including Loran Liu from Carrollton! They were in town for their congressional fly-in and we discussed energy efficiency tax provisions in the TCJA as well as how they support HVAC distributors in our state.

It was great seeing two North Texans later from Pappas Restaurants to discuss the negative impact the Gulf Fisheries Management Council has had on the ability of Texas restaurants and grocery stores to source fresh Gulf seafood.

Thank you for the productive conversation on how we can better support the restaurant and food retail industry in our home state!

I went to the House floor to vote for H.R. 4763 which provides a regulatory framework for the digital asset market, protects consumers and fosters innovation in our country.

On Thursday, I voted for H.R. 192, to prevent non-U.S. citizens from voting in local D.C. elections. Congress has a constitutional duty to oversee the governance of D.C. and we sent a strong message that we oppose extending voting rights to illegal aliens.

Had a great time joining my fellow Texan and friend, Congressman Michael Burgess, at his 2024 Chamber of Commerce Fly-In. It was great speaking with and seeing some familiar faces.

SAVE THE DATE!

On August 8th, I’m hosting another North Texas Job Fair at Globe Life Field, home to our World Series Champions, the Texas Rangers!

We’re currently set to have 300+ employers and hope to see thousands of jobseekers!
