LaCava's Column LONG OVERDUE CPG UPDATES This week marked the end of my 3+ year effort to update Council Policy 600-24, my first priority upon taking office. I am grateful for the partnership with the City Attorney’s Office and City Planning to update this 10-year-old policy that affects 42 planning groups (CPGs) and several hundred volunteers. I thank everyone in communities across the city who took the time to speak, write, or comment on this process, and the 42 groups that updated their operating procedures. The importance of CPGs and the dedication of their volunteers to the city cannot be understated. Making it easier to run for a seat on their CPG and making it easier for community members to cast a vote in annual elections will help ensure CPGs reflect the different voices in their community. With this final action, we recognized the official planning groups, approved their operating procedures, and updated Council Policy 600-24. CPG Recognition Operations STAY IN THE KNOW The City of San Diego developed a new interactive Project Finder Map that offers the general public detailed information on citywide construction projects and special events. Chief Gartland and the Fire-Rescue Department secured $250,000 from the State for a feasibility study on how the Northern Garage Facility in La Jolla can meet their day and nighttime needs. The facility, operational 24/7, is outdated and undersized. Thank you, Assemblymember Tasha Boerner, for this important allocation.
