Upcoming Events...   City of Auburn, Maine. Government Calendar   NEWS FROM AUBURN, MAINE   UPCOMING MEMORIAL EVENTS Last October, our community experienced unimaginable loss and heartbreak. Please join the City of Auburn on Sunday, June 2 at 10:00AM as we dedicate the playing fields in beautiful Pettengill Park (Auburn Recreation campus) to two beloved members of our community who were lost that day. We hope you will stand with us as we unveil and dedicate the "Tricia Asselin Memorial Field" and the "Joe Walker Memorial Field."   On Thursday, July 7, 1949, Auburn Police Officer Norman Philbrick was directing traffic at the scene of a major structure fire when he was struck and tragically killed following the collision of two fire trucks at the intersection of Main Street and Court Street. Officer Philbrick had served with the Auburn PD for two years and was a beloved member of the force. Norman was survived by his wife and two beautiful daughters. On July 7th - the 75th anniversary of his death - at 10:00AM, the City of Auburn and the Auburn Police Department will rename the intersection of Court & Main Streets as "Officer Norman Philbrick Square" in honor of this fallen hero. We hope you will join us as we dedicate and unveil a beautiful new memorial to Officer Philbrick.   Join Auburn Mayor Jeffrey Harmon this Saturday at 10:00AM at the L-A Veterans' Council's annual Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans Park in Lewiston.
