In less than a month, the Maine Climate Council will meet to receive new and updated policy recommendations from each of the six working groups. These are the second and third in a three-part series featuring updates and data from our Science and Technical Subcommittee ahead of the release of their updated scientific assessment.

** In response to the urgency of extreme storm impacts and their impacts on our communities, Governor Janet Mills signed an Executive Order in Stonington on Tuesday to establish the Commission on Infrastructure Rebuilding and Resilience ([link removed]) .

“The work of this commission is critical as climate change causes more of these extreme storms that put our state, people, and communities at risk,” said Hannah Pingree, Director of the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future and co-chair of the Maine Climate Council. “The commission will work closely with the Maine Climate Council to ensure our state has robust strategies to address climate impacts on our state today, and long-term view on how to strengthen the resilience of our communities, people, and infrastructure for years to come.”

** Finally, I want to mention the new Maine Clean Energy Jobs Portal ([link removed]) , an exciting new hub launched by the Governor's Energy Office this week to find, share, and discover clean energy job and training opportunities in Maine.

It was created in coordination with the Maine Department of Labor and the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development through its Clean Energy Partnership program.

** Climate&Me: Carter Frank
------------------------------------------------------------


** Carter Frank used to love playing City: Skylines, an Xbox game in which players build their own city, decide on road placement, and design public transportation. Frank, now a senior studying Environmental Planning and Policy at the University of Southern Maine, had no idea just how much a childhood hobby would translate into his career trajectory.

Like many other students, his educational journey had a few twists and turns before he found his passion for environmental planning.

Hannah Silverfine is the Climate Risk Management Project Coordinator with the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future. Her projects focus on advancing climate resilience in Maine through climate-ready infrastructure. Before joining GOPIF, Hannah ([link removed]) worked across the environmental field as a project manager, researcher, facilitator, and community organizer.
