Supporting foster carers in Oldham
Oldham Council is proud to be recognised as a Fostering Friendly employer, offering full support to foster carers. Accredited by The Fostering Network, we provide benefits such as flexible hours and paid time off for those interested in fostering.
In addition, we offer up to five days of paid leave each year for fostering related tasks. This shows our dedication to making it easier for our foster carers to make a positive impact on the lives of children in need.
Until Sunday 26 May, we're taking part in the national Foster Care Fortnight campaign, celebrating the #FosteringMoments that shape fostering journeys, no matter how small.
Experience heartwarming moments like the first time a little girl smiled by watching the full video here
Oldham urgently needs more foster parents, and we're calling on our community to step up and provide loving homes for children in need.

Have your say on road safety in Greater Manchester
In the last 10 years, almost 10,000 people have been killed or seriously injured on Greater Manchester's roads.
The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) has introduced a draft Vision Zero Strategy to change this issue. This strategy aims to put a stop to road deaths and serious injuries by 2040, with a goal of reducing them by 50% by 2030. The plan focuses on making our roads safer and healthier for everyone.
We need your input to make this strategy effective. Share your thoughts on improving road safety by completing the survey here
If you don't want to complete the survey online, you can get help by contacting the TfGM Customer Contact Centre at 0161 244 1000 or emailing [email protected]. Let's work together to make our roads safer for all.

This work will take about three weeks, with a lane closure on the A62 towards Oldham during this period. Thank you for your patience.
