Hi Friend,
Meet Peggy, a farmer from Zambia who was forced to stop working when her eyes were too itchy to continue. Peggy didn’t know at the time, but she was losing her sight to cataracts, the leading cause of blindness worldwide. With limited eye care services in her region, she tried other methods like natural medicine to reverse her vision loss, but it only made things worse.
What Peggy needed was a relatively straightforward 20-minute procedure to remove her cataracts and restore her vision. But Peggy was afraid she couldn’t afford the surgery, which is where you — our supporters — come in.
When our partner, Chongwe District Hospital, was hosting a cataract surgery camp coordinated by the Ministry of Health and Orbis Zambia, Peggy was screened and invited back for surgery. The cost was entirely covered by Orbis supporters like you.
Thanks to your support, Peggy was able to return to her farm after successful surgery and can now earn a living and care for herself and her family once again.
