Other goods & services news
Statewide contracts now identify main, reserved awards
We made changes to our statewide contracts summary webpages that will help purchasers who are subject to requirements and restrictions that prohibit regional preference when spending federal funding. Purchasers can now see the award type for each business on a statewide contract.
In the column labeled Award Type you will see one of these terms, which we?ve defined here:
Main Award: Open to all bidders. Awards are given to the highest-scored, responsive, responsible bidders. Reserved Award: Open to Washington small or certified veteran-owned bidders that didn?t receive a main award. Awards are given to highest-scored, responsive, responsible bidders that meet the criteria.
Main/Reserved Award: The contractor won a main award in one region or category, and also won a reserved award in another region or category. This is rare. See the contractor section of the contract page for additional details. If your agency uses federal funding for purchases, you?ll likely want to choose contractors that are designated as main awards. Main awards offer no consideration for regional preference (such as small, veteran-owned or OMWBE-certified).
We recommend you consult with your procurement team and/or legal counsel on any specific federal funding requirements or restrictions associated with your purchases.
