Team, I will admit, this is not how I expected to spend the spring holiday season.
Though traditions and family gatherings may be disrupted, I hope you and your loved ones find solace and connection in uncertain times. This past week I have seen countless virtual seders and tomorrow will see the same as many of us gather remotely for Easter. I’m immensely heartened by our community’s ability to overcome and find a little joy in these difficult times.
Both Passover and Easter are holidays that symbolize renewal and change. That sentiment seems to fit quite well with our current situation. There certainly has been a lot of change recently (staying at home, social distancing, etc) but after this is over and we can once again gather in person, there is going to be even more change. We will appreciate going to get dinner with a friend, hug our loved ones a little tighter, and continue to treat essential workers like the superheroes they are. As I’m sure you have heard many times before, if we work together (by staying apart) we can defeat this virus together.
However, so many people are struggling with illness, an unexpected drop in income, or the loss of a loved one because of the current pandemic. So, if you are able to do so, I hope you’ll support our health system by donating blood and support the most vulnerable among our community by contributing to local shelters and food banks -- here are a few I recommend supporting in our region:
I hope you will consider giving to these wonderful organizations to help others in our community this season. A few dollars to a food bank could mean a holiday meal for someone who is struggling and just one pint of blood donated can save up to three lives. So again, I encourage you to donate what you can to help your neighbors.
Thank you again and I wish you much peace and joy!
With Gratitude,
