If you’re tuned in to all things New Jersey politics, then you’re probably following along with U.S. Senator Bob Menendez’s corruption trial.

But in case you’re not, here’s a refresher:

1. Menendez accepted thousands of dollars and luxury gifts in exchange for votes in the Senate — the biggest bribery scandal in US politics.

2. After getting caught and refusing to resign, Menendez is now taking the stand as a last resort to clear his name (even though all the facts point to him being guilty).

This is what happens when the inner workings of New Jersey’s political machine are at play. But while we can’t change the past, we can change the future.

I’m running against Senator Menendez’s son, Rob Menendez Jr., in NJ-08’s highly competitive primary only 12 days away.

While other Democrats are refusing Menendez’s ill-gotten funds, Menendez Jr.’s campaign has accepted $20,000 from his father. On top of that, he’s backed by large corporate donors.

The last thing New Jersey needs is another politician that’s bought by special interests. That’s why I’m not taking a single dime from corporate PACs.

But that also means I’m reliant on grassroots support from hard-working people like you in order to fight back against my opponent’s big $$$ attacks.
