I have amazing news – Sgt Daniel Perry has been pardoned!

You might remember the story of this heroic active duty Sgt in the US Army who was convicted of murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison after he defended his community against a violent Black Lives Matter
protester.

NCPD took on the costs of defending him and fighting for his pardon with the help of generous supporters like you.

Daniel has just thankfully been pardoned by Texas Governor Greg Abbot, and his long legal battle is over.

But Friend, here comes the bad news:

While Daniel Perry is now a free man, we still have many officers who are facing prison for crimes they didn’t commit.

I hope you’ll take a moment to read some of their stories below, and please consider donating $25 or more to the National Center for Police Defense to help us cover the costs of defending all of these wrongly accused officers.

Officer Alex Gaitan

In March 2021, Officer Gaitan was dispatched for an unknown urgent call for service. Soon, Alex arrived at a building he’d been at several times before, facing a man he knew well as a violent drug user.

Alex managed to get the suspect on the ground, but the criminal continued to struggle and resist the officers and their attempts to get him in handcuffs. Knowing that the longer this  went on, the more dangerous it would be for everyone, Alex decided to use his taser to get the suspect’s compliance. The Taser deployment worked, and the suspect stopped resisting the police officers

 The danger was over, and Officer Gaitan would get home safely that night.

But almost two years later, the Soros-funded, anti-fop District Attorney José Garza dropped a bombshell and indicted Officer Alex Gaitan for aggravated assault… even though it was the suspect who resisted arrest and decided it was a good idea to fight four police officers.

If convicted, Alex could be sent to prison for up to 99 years, taking him away from his family for the rest of his life.

His trial is set for July and is quickly approaching.

Officer Chance Bretches

One night in March, 2019, Officer Chance Bretches and his partner were assigned to a Street Narcotics Unit in a rough part of town in Austin.

When Chance noticed a man named Paul Mannie who appeared to be dealing drugs from his car, he and his partner leapt into action and went to arrest the 200 lb, 6’1’’ criminal.

But Mannie didn’t do what the officers ordered and instead began physically resisting arrest. In fact, it appeared Mannie slipped drugs in his mouth to destroy evidence.

When the violent criminal continued to resist, Chance and his partner had to use Department-approved techniques to bring the dangerous situation to a safe ending. 

EMS was called and Mannie was taken to a hospital, where the toxicology screen found he had PCP in his bloodstream.

Despite that incredible danger, Chance had protected his community against this criminal, and the whole ordeal should have been over…

…until DA José Garza, whose mission was to make examples out of law enforcement to push his political agenda.

Now Chance is facing the possibility of life in prison away from his young family, and his trial is scheduled for August 2024. We’re quickly running out of time to raise the funds for his defense.

Officer Chris Taylor

In 2019, Officer Chris Taylor was responding to a call about a knife-wielding man menacing the halls of a high rise apartment building in Austin when he ended up cornered in an elevator by the dangerous criminal.

When the man refused to drop his knife, Chris was forced to fire his weapon to defend himself and his fellow officers.

After a thorough investigation, the Austin Police Department ruled that Chris was justified in using deadly force.

That should have been the end of it. And it was — for a while.
But in 2021, two years later, José Garza was elected and indicted Chris for murder — a charge that can carry a life sentence in prison if convicted.

Chris was shocked and dismayed. He did everything by the book and had already been cleared.

To make matters worse,he was suspended without pay — and you can imagine what a financial
strain that is. Chris’s wife Amy has stepped up and helped with the family finances, but it’s not enough.

Chris’s trial is set for September, and I hope you’ll consider donating to his defense below.
