WHAT: 350FAIRFAX VIRTUAL GENERAL MEETING
WHEN: Thursday, June 6, 7:30 PM ET
RSVP HERE
DETAILS: Big oil and gas companies learned decades ago that their products would fuel climate change. Instead of doing what they could to mitigate what they knew to be a potentially "catastrophic" crisis, they pivoted to a decades-long campaign of doubt, denial, and disinformation in order to delay climate action and protect their profits. Our speaker, Ilya Shornstein, the Political Director at the Center for Climate Integrity, will tell us about the history of the fossil fuel industry's deception, how it's evolved over time, and what it looks like now. She will also discuss how dozens of states and communities have filed lawsuits to hold major oil companies accountable for their fair share of the costs associated with climate change.
Ms. Shornstein, oversees the organization's state and local political strategies. She works closely with elected officials all over the country – empowering them with the tools they need to hold oil and gas companies accountable for the devastating impacts their products have had on local communities.
Please RSVP before 6 PM on Thursday, June 6. If you have not received the Zoom link by 6:30, please email me at [email protected].
We look forward to seeing you on the 6th of June.
Sustainably yours,
Helene Shore
