Harvey Milk was the first openly gay elected official in California, and gained national recognition for his courage in the face of hate and his dedication to equality. |

As one of Florida’s first openly gay state legislators, the legacy of Harvey Milk is personally inspiring to me. I encourage everyone to join me today in reflecting on the sacrifices of those who came before us in the fight for equality, the progress we’ve made, and the journey ahead.
Let’s honor his memory by fighting against the hateful legislation coming out of Tallahassee, advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, and building a future where everyone can live openly and proudly.
