   John — when
we win our Senate race here in California this November, we are also going
to flip the House of Representatives back to Democratic control. Let me
   tell you how:
They’re known as the “Biden 16” — 16 Republican members of Congress on the
ballot in districts that Joe Biden won in 2020 — compared to just 5
   Democrats defending Trump-won districts.
With 213 Democratic seats in the House, we just need to pick up 5 seats to
win a majority — and many of the most competitive are right here in
California. If we can fully fund our campaign to turn out voters
down-ballot, the Republicans’ House majority is toast. And it will drive
enthusiasm across the country to re-elect President Biden and defeat
   Donald Trump.

resources are low after a long, all-parties jungle primary. Add a

   contribution to help rebuild them.
Before my campaign for the Senate, I spent many, many elections helping
Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and congressional Democrats fight for the
House majority. One thing those experiences have proven is this: We don’t
always have the chance to get big things done, so when the opportunity
comes up, we need to take it.
I served three full terms in the House before I ever experienced
legislating from the majority — not to mention that we were dealing with a
Republican Senate and President George W. Bush at the same time!
Needless to say, it was not the most productive time in Congress if you
were a Democrat. It wasn’t until my fifth term that we had the House and
Senate majorities, and President Barack Obama in the White House, to get
some real things done. An entire decade.
And those majorities didn’t last long — just two years later, the Tea
Party movement flipped the House majority in 2010, right in time for
redistricting. GOP state legislatures brutally gerrymandered Democrats in
dozens of states. It wasn’t for another decade that we once again had the
Congress and the White House to pass the urgent priorities that had
stacked up over the past decade.
Once a decade — that’s about how often the election cycle has aligned for
us to build the majorities to make real progress like we did in 2018 and
2020. We can’t wait that long to make progress.

While the pundits have paid a lot of attention to the presidential and
Senate races, we cannot discount the impact that a House majority has on
our ability to make progress — the story of the Democratic and MAGA
majorities in the first and second halves of Biden’s term has demonstrated
how much the right majority can move us forward — or backward.
Let’s seize this historic opportunity in front of us. Let’s go.
