Dear John,
It’s finally happening. On July 4th, only forty-three days from now, Britain will have its next General Election.
Our corrupt and unpopular government will finally face the true will of the people. They’ll be forced to own their embarrassing record and submit to the accountability they’ve long avoided. We understand that for many around the country, it’s a cause for celebration.
But for us at Open Britain, this is a deeply serious moment – one that we’ve spent months preparing for.
It means the most intense period of work yet for our organisation is now underway. We’ll be spending the next six weeks taking advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity to fix our broken democracy and halt the UK’s descent into an authoritarian abyss.
To do it properly, we need to make democracy a doorstep issue, creating an election environment where no one can deny its importance – or the state of crisis it’s currently in.

Here’s how we’re going to seize this moment of opportunity:
We’ll fight to make this the last election ever held under First Past the Post by putting irresistible pressure on the incoming government to prioritise the adoption of PR.
We’ll make wider democratic reform a public priority by ensuring OB supporters and the general public make their views known to election candidates.
We’ll grow our movement even further, building a national network of democracy activists that the next government will be unable to ignore.
Britain may seem in a bad way today, but it can and will descend further into political chaos and injustice if we don’t take bold action to save it. These next six weeks could very well determine the future of British democracy.
Can you help us make sure we have the resources we need to achieve these objectives?

Mark Kieran
