The theoretically private conversation with President Trump that Joe Biden has discussed on national TV. "Though President Donald Trump and former vice president Joe Biden said they had agreed to keep the details of their Monday phone call private, Biden appears to have reneged on the agreement. The Democratic nominee has now divulged several details about the exchange in media interviews and a meeting with donors." [Read the full story from the Washington Free Beacon.] President Trump and Joe Biden agreed to keep private the content of their phone conversation on Monday. The president reported that it was a "very, very good talk," and then he kept his word and didn't go into more detail.
In contrast, Joe Biden has shared parts of the call during a local TV interview ... and a national TV interview ... and an online fundraising event with his donors, as the Washington Free Beacon has reported.
As a result, we've all learned that their conversation did include a discussion of the country's coronavirus response -- and, seemingly in violation of their agreement on Monday, Biden has made sure audiences know he brought a five-point plan to the call.
We can't believe they're criticizing President Trump for this. "Recently CNN stopped airing the president’s remarks at the daily virus briefing. Not only is this journalistically irresponsible, but it keeps their readers out of the loop, as the president announces major initiatives during his remarks." [Read the full story from Lifezette.] Some in the media continue to act outraged at the audacity of President Trump for delivering updates on the nation's coronavirus response directly to the American people -- and usually every day. (Seriously!)
As always, we recommend that you watch the Trump Administration's daily updates on the coronavirus response for yourself, which today started live at 1pm. Though some TV networks don't carry it, you can see it for yourself on the White House's social media accounts or on the White House's website at WhiteHouse.gov/live.
We would predict that there may be more briefings over the weekend too.
Americans appreciate President Trump's leadership. "According to the latest Fox News poll, the president’s job approval rating has jumped to a 'record high' amid the pandemic, from 47% to 49%. 'Amid widespread concerns about the virus’ spread and personally getting infected, 49% approve of the job Trump is doing as president,' reported the outlet. 'That’s up from 48% two weeks ago and 47 percent in late February.'" [Read the full story from the Daily Wire.] Despite the outcry from some in the media, the American people continue to show that they appreciate President Trump's decisive leadership in these uncertain times.
His job approval rating has reached a "record high," as the Daily Wire reported.
And for some (more) good news in these uncertain times... "The Trump administration is laying the foundation to push for a reopening of parts of the U.S. economy as early as the beginning of May amid rising pressure over unemployment numbers rivaling those during the Great Depression." [Read the full story from The Hill.] Although no official policy has been announced, it seems that the Trump Administration is exploring the possibility of re-opening the economy -- and our country! -- in some areas as soon as May.
Much of the decision-making on these matters, though, is made by governors. (Virginia, for example, has a stay at home order in place until June 10.) Much more will depend on how coronavirus spreads and what the public health and medical experts recommend.
But it is an encouraging sign to see that the Trump Administration is starting to consider these next steps in the country's response to the coronavirus. Let us all hope that more good news is ahead this spring.
In the meantime, we continue to wish for the health and safety of you, your family, and your community at this uncertain time. Stay safe and we'll see you next week!
