View as Webpage ‌ ‌ ‌ This week Missouri legislators returned to the Missouri State Capitol to pass the supplemental budget (HB 2014) to finish out the FY 2020 budget year which includes funding for the current Corona virus crisis. The state’s business was done under the guidelines of Governor Parson’s social distancing order. HB 2014 includes the pro-life protective language supported by Missouri Right to Life to prevent any funding from being used for abortion or abortion services. In this time of crisis your Missouri Right to Life team is still working to ensure that abortion does not become an “essential” part of our healthcare in Missouri or in Washington. As we come to Easter Sunday, like we have never seen before, remember to pray for President Trump, Governor Parson and our state leaders as they do the people’s business and lead us through this time of crisis. They are working to help our state and nation get back to normal and defeat this deadly virus. There are so many great heroes all around us that continue to work in this crisis to help people get what they need for their families. Thank them as you encounter them. Thank you for being a hero over the years in the battle to save innocent human lives! Continue to pray for those in the abortion business that are operating in the darkness of taking innocent human lives. Help us to help them see that all innocent lives are precious. Have a blessed Easter. We serve a risen Savior! Stay safe, follow the safety guidelines, be calm, look out for your family and neighbors and pray constantly. Make a Donation Advance Directives for a Natural End of Life Continuing a series on pro-life advance directives by Jim Cole, MRL General Counsel. II. A natural death with dignity The most important question raised by end-of-life issues is how human life is to be protected and human dignity promoted. A living person, no matter how impaired, does not gain dignity by being turned into a corpse. One gains meaning in life by using the time of approaching death to make one's peace with family, friends, and for believers, with God. Human life and dignity are protected by allowing death to occur after ordinary means of preserving life eventually run out, but not forcing it before. A side note is needed here. Some think that pro-lifers want to keep patients alive using any and all means available for as long as medical technology allows. Not true. All of us know and accept that there comes a time to end further efforts and let a person die a natural death. But that is different from pushing a person into death more quickly. A well-written advance directive is one tool to use to attempt to forestall pressures from other people for a premature death.
