Hi there,

I’ve got an important request to make of you that could help us fight this pandemic.

Three cities in Asia -- Hong Kong, Taipei, and Singapore -- have had remarkable success in halting the progress of COVID-19. And if we are going to stop pandemics from killing millions of Americans, we need to implement their methods immediately, including taking on powerful industries like Big Ag.

But we need your help to put these lessons into practice.

Can you help? If you contribute $28 today, you can help us fight back.

What specifically do we need to do?

Step 1: Test like our lives depend on it. In the United States, it’s been hard to get tested -- unless you're famous or already at death’s door. But in Singapore, the government announced that every citizen with flu-like symptoms would immediately get tested. Despite being one of the first cities to have an outbreak, Singapore has had a tiny number of deaths!

Step 2: Quarantine. In the United States, 10 states have still refused to impose stay-at-home orders, and quarantines are still loose and ineffective. We have to use every method possible to ensure that folks who test positive are quarantined immediately. This is a combination of technology (negative pressure beds in Hong Kong) and government action (huge fines in Taipei). We need to realize that quarantining is not a request but an imperative necessary to keep our people safe.

Step 3: Support. No one will be able to get through this if we don’t provide people support -- financial, medical, and psychological. Yet some of the highest risk populations, like the homeless, are being left to fend for themselves. In Hong Kong, instead of evicting people, or waiting until they get sick, every patient of COVID-19 is being given free housing and food. We need to do the same here in the States.

But there’s one more crucial thing that Asian cities are doing: Taking on the meat trade.

As we set out in a video we published today, there is a widespread recognition that slaughtering animals was the root cause of this virus. So while we take these 3 steps to stop the current pandemic, we also have to prevent the next one. While some media reports have suggested small re-openings, the ban on wildlife markets remains in place in China.

Will we take the same action in the United States? That’s up to us. There are hundreds of live animal markets in the United States -- including here in the Bay Area -- that no one is talking about. With your help, we’re going to change that. Our campaign is all about protecting the planet from future catastrophe. But to do that, we need a grassroots movement.

Unlike our opponent, we’re only taking donations of $50 or less, so we need you to be part of our team. Please make a contribution today.
