2019 Annual Report [[link removed]]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I put pen to paper a few months ago to craft the introduction to our 2019 annual
report, I wrote, "In a world of uncertainty, there is one thing we know: Together,
we can make a difference in the lives of children right here in our own community."
Those words hit an even deeper emotional chord as I write to you today. Far too
many families are being pushed further into poverty by today's health crisis. We
find ourselves helping parents access food and medicine for their children before
they can tackle the complexity of remote learning without access to a computer.
We are texting and FaceTime-ing with teenagers in foster care three to four times
a week to make sure they are following the stay home order and checking in on what
other support they need during this critical time. Most importantly, we are making
sure they know we care about their safety.
What gives me hope is knowing that -- when we come together, we can keep children
safe and build family resilience. Our 2019 annual report is proof. [[link removed]]
The children you read about in these pages entered this dangerous time healthier,
more confident and with loving family support because Children's Law Center is constantly
thinking bigger and working smarter -- a strength we are bringing to the crisis
today.
2019 Annual Report [[link removed]]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

More than 5,000 children and families turned to us last year. Yet the sad reality
of this crisis is that thousands more will need our help in the months and years
ahead. We simply cannot do it alone. [[link removed]]
We need a team that includes you -- our donors, pro bono attorneys, nonprofit partners
and neighbors.
As you read through our annual report, I hope it will make you smile -- and that
it inspires you to continue fighting with us as we face the immense challenges
that lie ahead.
The road will surely be long, but I am inspired by the generosity and commitment
of all of you who helped us achieve everything that we did in 2019.
If you are able, please help us do more in 2020 by giving what you can today. [[link removed]]
DC's children and families are trusting us to continue the fight now more than ever.
With gratitude,
