Dear John,

In addition to the events we shared with you earlier this week, we also want to invite you to another Progressive Israel Network (PIN) event to comemorate Israel's Memorial Day - Yom Zikaron. Please join us on Monday, May 13 at 3pm ET, see below for details.

PIN YOM ZIKARON EVENT

For many of us, Yom HaZikaron — Israel's annual day of remembrance — will feel even more necessary, poignant, and challenging this year.

On Monday, May 13, at 3 PM ET, join the Progressive Israel Network and Rabbi Adina Allen of Jewish Studio Project to observe this day and the many emotions it may elicit through the power of art-making and writing. Together, we will explore the depth and contours of our grief through the creative process and begin to move from grief into action.

Rabbi Adina Allen (she/her) is a spiritual leader, writer and educator who believes in the power of creativity to revitalize our lives and transform Jewish tradition. Integrating a lifetime of experience in the expressive arts with her rabbinic training, Adina has taught clergy, educators and lay leaders in hundreds of Jewish communal institutions across the country. Adina’s writing is widely published and her original research on using creative process to generate contemporary midrash was published in the CCAR Journal in 2013. She is a recipient of the Covenant Foundation’s 2018 Pomegranate Prize for emerging Jewish Educators and is a fellow of the Open Dor Project for spiritual Jewish entrepreneurs. Adina was ordained in Hebrew College’s pluralistic training program in Boston in 2014 where she was a Wexner Graduate Fellow.

In case you haven't seen our previous email, here are two more events we would love for you to join:

Israeli-Palestinian Joint Memorial Service

The lives of everyone connected to Israel and Palestine will never be the same since October 7,
2023. With tens of thousands of lives lost, families torn apart, and children traumatized, now
more than ever, we need to continue to show up for one another to mourn, remember, and call
for an end to the violence and demand a political solution that brings freedom, justice, and
safety for all. Israelis and Palestinians need the international community to join together around
our shared grief to heal and build hope that another way is not only possible but imperative.
This year will be the 19th annual joint Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Day ceremony organized
by Combatants for Peace and the Parents Circle-Families Forum.

The Ceremony will take place on May 12, 2024 at 1:30pm EST.
