Today, Florida's 6-week abortion ban officially went into effect – forcing women to travel as far as Virginia and
beyond for abortion and other pregnancy-related care.

At an emotionally and physically painful time in my life, when I needed an emergency D&C in the middle of the night after a
miscarriage, I was so grateful to be able to get care just a few minutes away. But now, women across much of the country are being
sent home when arriving at the hospital with grave pregnancy complications – told to wait until they are near death until they can
get care.

This isn't just a Florida issue – it's a threat to women's rights and health everywhere. Virginia is the only state in the South
that offers legal protections for abortion rights, leaving many women without access to the care they need.

Now, more than ever, we need to defend our privacy and bodily autonomy. The upcoming election will determine the fate of our
rights, and the choice couldn’t be clearer. My Republican opponent supports passing a national abortion ban, overriding our
protections here in Washington state. I will fight with everything I’ve got to restore federal protections for abortion.

I've been a fierce advocate for women's rights throughout my life, from marching and fighting for reproductive rights for the last
30 years to supporting sexual assault survivors in finding health and legal services for many years. It is why I earned the sole
endorsement of the National Organization for Women in this campaign. In Congress, I'll continue that fight every single day, but I
can't do it alone.
