John,

Immigrants have been the backbone of our labor force for centuries. From contributing billions of dollars ([link removed]*m7c0pd*_ga*MjAzMjU4OTgxLjE2OTg2ODQ5NDU.*_ga_W0MSMD2GPV*MTY5OTAzMzkyNy40LjAuMTY5OTAzMzk1Mi4wLjAuMA..) in taxes, to revitalizing our communities ([link removed].) when crisis strikes, immigrants and refugees have been essential to our small towns and cities throughout New York State.

This May Day, join us in celebrating their contributions by sharing our messages on Twitter and Facebook!

As we celebrate workers this May Day, let's remember that the NY economy thrives thanks to the contribution of immigrant workers 👏🏾

In 2021, immigrant NYers paid $61 BILLION dollars in taxes and constituted $138 BILLION dollars in spending power. #MayDay2024 #ImmigrantsAreNY

For centuries, immigrants have been the backbone of NY 💪🏽💪🏿💪🏾

Through their hard work, historic landmarks like the Erie Canal and Brooklyn Bridge were constructed. In fact, more than 1 in 3 NY construction workers were immigrants in 2022 #MayDay2024 #ImmigrantsAreNY

New York is one of the most diverse states in the nation. Over 800 languages ([link removed].) are spoken here, brought by generations of immigrants who built and shaped our communities to become what they are today.

In the past decade, immigrants have filled thousands of vacant positions in fields often understaffed, such as construction ([link removed](54%20percent).) and home health ([link removed].) . With the current labor shortage and declining birth rates, our newest arrivals will continue to play a vital role in revitalizing our communities and keeping our workforce and economy strong.

Immigrant New Yorkers are essential to New York’s growth and its future. This May Day, let’s show them some love and acknowledge their contributions.
