"Moving Back from the Nuclear Brink"
The 2024 Annual Meeting •
June 7, 2024 • Washington, D.C.

Dear John,

You're cordially invited to join fellow ACA members, friends, and colleagues at our Annual Meeting on Friday, June 7, 2024, held at the prestigious National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

REGISTER TODAY

This year's gathering comes at a critical juncture, echoing the concerns expressed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres earlier this year regarding the resurgence of nuclear threats.

“The nuclear shadow that loomed over humanity last century
has returned with a vengeance. The nuclear risk is higher than
at any moment since the depths of the Cold War…  And the vital
norms and standards against the proliferation, testing, and
use of nuclear weapons are being eroded.”

Our keynote speakers and expert panels will delve into pressing arms control, nonproliferation, and disarmament challenges. Speakers and topics include:

  • Pranay Vaddi, Special Assistant to President Biden and Senior Director for Arms Control, Disarmament, and Nonproliferation (Invited) on U.S. nuclear weapons policy and future directions for arms control.
  • "Assessing U.S. Nuclear Force Size and Spending: How Much Is Enough?" with Hans Kristensen, Federation of American Scientists, and Madelyn Creedon, Chair of the Congressional Commission on the U.S. Strategic Posture.
  • "Advancing a More Effective and Ethical U.S. Arms Transfer Policy," with Annie Shiel, Center for Civilians in Conflict, Ari Tolany, Center for International Policy, and Rachel Stohl, Stimson Center.
  • "Preventing Further Proliferation in the Middle East," with Kelsey Davenport, ACA Director for Nonprolferation Policy and others.
  • "Charting Future Paths for Nuclear Arms Control and Disarmament," with ACA Board Chair Tom Countryman and others.

Additionally, we invite you to sponsor the Annual Meeting. Your sponsorship will bolster our efforts in tackling new and complex challenges, further influencing the public dialogue, and training the next generation of arms control leaders.

Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. The program begins at 9:00 a.m. Following the above panels, a plated lunch, and keynote speakers, the program will conclude at 3:30 p.m.

We eagerly anticipate your presence on June 7 as we collectively address the imperative issues shaping our global security landscape.
